The ASC service is accessible to all students, with and without a diagnosis. Students do not have to have been awarded ‘Disability Student Allowance’ (DSA) to access our service, however, we would recommend that all students apply for this as this will fund weekly/fortnightly additional specialist ASC support.
Background
The ASC team at our university are your main point of contact for any autism-related queries throughout your studies. The team is responsible for recommending and coordinating your support or adjustments.
We are a team of four Autism Practitioners and aim to work together to jointly ensure our student’s success at Swansea University.

The Specialist ASC mentors
The Specialist ASC mentors support students awarded ‘Disability Student Allowance’ (DSA) on a weekly/fortnightly basis. They provide ASC students with the support that they might need; academically, emotionally, in terms of their independent living skills, and socially. They enable ASC students to learning coping strategies to manage difficulties they might be experiencing due to their condition(s).
How could this affect me?
The ASC team is responsible for recommending and coordinating your support or adjustments. Adjustments are tailored on an individual basis so your involvement in this process is essential.
If you decide not to contact the team prior to starting your course you are still welcome to contact us at any point throughout your studies.
It can take time to arrange and implement any support you may require so we would encourage you to contact us in good time prior to your arrival so that we can ensure you have everything in place at the earliest possible opportunity.
